शिरकुर्मा आणि बिर्याणी....... 

काल रमजान ईद सण साजरा झाला. दुपारी 2.30 वाजता आमच्या शेजारच्या खराडेवाली चाचींकडून बिर्याणी आणि शिरखुर्माचा डबा आमच्याकडे आला. दरवर्षी न चूकता त्यांच्या कडून आम्हाला डबा येतो. मला वाटत रमजानच्या निमित्ताने त्यांच्याशी आमचे माणुसकीचे नाते अधिक दृढ होत आहे. आम्ही तीस वर्षे मालवण शहरात राहत आहोत. या तीन वर्षांतील अनेक वर्षे आम्ही मुस्लीम आणि ख्रिश्चन समाजबांधवकडे भाड्याने राहिलो. माझे आणि बहिणीचे बालपण या समाजबांधवांमध्ये गेले. रमझानच्या निमित्ताने जुन्या आठवणींना उजाळा मिळाला. आम्ही वायरी मुस्लिम मोहल्ला येथे चाचींकडे भाड्याने राहायला होतो. त्यावेळी बाजूच्या बौद्धवाडीत माझा मित्र परिवार होता. तेवढाच मित्रपरिवार मुस्लिम मोहल्यात होता. मोहसिन, मतीन, तौसिफ या सारखे अनेक मित्र मला मुस्लीम मोहल्यातच भेटले. मोहसिन, मतीनने गँरेजच्या माध्यमातून व्यवसाय करतात त्यांची नेहमी भेट होतच असते. तौसिफ, युसुफ हे दुबईत असतात पण मालवणला आल्यावर ते आवर्जून भेट घेतात. मला वाटत या सर्वांशीच माझे माणुसकीचे नाते आहे. मला वाटत प्रत्येक धर्म हा शांती, समता, माणुसकीचा संदेश देतो. धर्म ही एक प्रकारे जगण्याची पद्धत आहे. पण ती जगत असताना प्रत्येकाने प्रत्येकाशी माणुसकीने वागल्यास सर्वांचे जीवन आनंदमयी होईल.

                                                      Shirkurma and Biryani ....... 

Ramadan Eid was celebrated yesterday.  At 2.30 pm, a box of biryani and shirkhurma came to us from our neighboring Kharadewali aunt. Every year without fail we get a box from them.  I think the occasion of Ramadan is strengthening our humanitarian relationship with them. We have been living in Malvan for thirty years. For many of these three years, we rented to Muslim and Christian communities. My sister and I spent our childhood in these communities. The occasion of Ramadan brought back old memories. We were going to live with our aunt in Wairi Muslim Mohalla.  At that time, my friend's family was in the nearby Buddhist community locality. The same number of friends were in the Muslim neighborhood. Many friends like Mohsin, Matin, Tousif met me in a Muslim neighborhood.  Mohsin, who runs a business through Matin's garage, is always visited.  Tousif and Yusuf are in Dubai but when they come to Malvan, they visit regularly. I think I have a human relationship with all of this. I think every religion conveys the message of peace, equality, humanity. Religion is a way of life. But if it treats everyone humanely while it is alive, everyone's life will be happier .
